NTLDR is missing, cannot reinstall the XP Home

Derek

I recently brought a new Compaq Presario 2800 notebook. I
was hit by the virus when I tried to connect to the
Miscrosoft to download the critical update and the SP.
So, to play safe, I do the reinstall the notebook by
using the Recover Plus CD that came with he nootbook.
First, it copied whatever files from the Recovery CD and
then from the XP OS CD. The notebook was freeze after the
coping with the XP OS was completed. I had to reboot the
notebook manually. However, the system just could not be
restart but prompt me the following error message: "NTLDR
is missing, press any key to restrat." I tried that by
just start up by using the XP CD, the partation that was
supposed be created during the recovery stage was somehow
said is FAT32. Could anyone has any tips or idea what is
the cause and the possible solution? Thx
