Hello,
I have a hard drive, used as a slave, and was changed from fat32 to ntfs. I
am giving it to my daughter, but she must use as fat32. I am using winxp.
How do I format the drive so she can use it on her computer?
Thanks,
jsm

You launch the Storage Manager, delete the NTFS partition, then
create a FAT32 partition and format it. You will, of course, lose
all data.

Jerry:
Pegasus' instructions are fine assuming the hard drive in question does not
exceed 32 GB in capacity. If it's a 40 GB disk or larger, the Disk
Management utility in XP (Start > right-click My Computer > Manage > Disk
Management) will be able to partition & format the disk only up to a maximum
of 32 GB in FAT32. If you require a single FAT32 partition encompassing the
full capacity of the disk greater than 32 GB, then you will have to use the
FDISK and FORMAT commands from a Win9x/Me startup (floppy) disk to do so
after first using FDISK to delete the NTFS partition. If you don't have a
Win9x/Me startup disk, you can download a DOS boot disk with these commands
from a number of sites on the net. Just do a Google search for "DOS boot
disk".

He justs needs to delete the partition and move it to the other PC.
Assuming that the other PC is not using XP, they should:

1) FDISK to create the new partition

2) Format the drive in Fat32.
