ntfs.sys...ntoskrnl.exe

Hi
I have a machine that was showing a fault at start up...missing or corrupt
Ntfs.sys...so I've replaced it with the original Ntfs.sys from the XP disk.
That then caused the problem of hanging during Bootup after Mup.sys had
loaded...so then I thought it may be because the machine I'm working on has
sp2 installed so I copied the Ntfs.sys file from my own machine with sp2 and
copied that over and that took me back to the original problem.

This is telling me that the original problem is not the Ntfs.sys file...I've
checked out the boot.ini and there's nothing out of place there...I've also
copied over a copy of ntoskrnl.exe from my machine which got me as far as the
win logo on statrup but it now keeps shutting down and rebooting
continuously...any ideas?

Go to the command prompt and run System File Checker.
From the C:\whatever-prompt, type: SFC /SCANNOW
To see a description of the command's intent, type:
SFC /?

Or look here:
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/XPrepairinstall.htm for
instructions on how to re-install Windows - you'll have to
run the Security updates afterwards, but your data should
be safe. I'd backup my data first.

Good Luck !
