NTFS 8.3 Filename

I disabled 8.3 filename in NTFS, and now even though I
changed it back, I still cannot access my mp3 and wav
files by clicking on the icon. I have to open Windows
Media Player 8 and and hit file open ->

Have you associated these files with WMP ?

If not right click on any mp3 file > Open with > and choose the programme
you want to open thses files
(in this case WMP). Do the same for your wav files.

Might be worth upgrading to WMP9
