NTBackup 8017 error

Can I get the Hotfix for support article # 828402 anywhere other than paying
$99 to email Microsoft?

I am getting the 8017 error code during daily NTBackup procedure.

Running XP Pro SP2.

That earlier microsoft kb might not apply to your problem. But the problem
with NTBACKUP is its not dependable or supported well by microsoft. If you

Ps I don't know what your are backing up to. If you are backing up to cd
you'll need direct access ot your cd such as roxio drag to disk
 
Thank you for your input. I am only backing up Favorites, Desktop, My
Documents, and Outlook.PST.

I am backing up to an NAS device (through a mapped drive letter). I just
need software that can be scheduled and show me a report. Simple stuff. Any
other advice is appreciated.
 
I used bask backup for the similar purposes as you. It reliable. Since then a
bought a backup product. Bask backup doesn't have scheduling capability but
between bask backup sets and schedule tasks ( start button , select programs
, accessories, system tools) you should be able to schedule your backup that
way.
