NTAUTHORITY/SYSTEMS

What is NTAUTHORITY/SYSTEMS? Is it a program for Windows
XP? Do I need to worry about this program? I have this in
my System 32 file and I did have a problem with this
NTAUTHORITY/SYSTEMS where it would bring up a cookie
saying that windows will be shuting down. I downloaded a
patch for this and fixed the problem. Now when I look at
my system info, I see NTAUTHORITY/SYSTEMS in my system
summary/software enviroment/services and I see areas with
this name running as a DNS client[Dnscache] and SSDP
discovery service[SSDPSRV] and TCP/IP NetBIOS helper
[LmHosts] and WebClient. All of these are in svchost.exe-k
localservice. Is this normal?

If you were getting a pop up windows saying windows will be shut down, then
that has nothing to do with cookies. It means you have/had a virus. I
suggest you do a virus scan with an updated program.

And the OP said that he had corrected that problem, which
you would have discerned had you read the post before
responding to it. What the OP is seeing now is normal.

Briefly, NTAUTHORITY/SYSTEM is a type of account that
runs as a service (no GUI) that allows the machine to interact
with other machines and processes that use networking protocols.
No need to worry about it.

I almost never see a computer that is infected by only one virus. If they
had one, they may have more. Doing a virus scan would be a good idea, as
they did not say how they fixed the problem. The patch isn't the fix,
removing the virus is and they did not say whether they removed it or not.
And if they did get infected then most likely they aren't even running av
software, so a online scan would be the place to start.

Thank you for the info. Can I remove this
NTAUTHORITY\SYSTEMS from my computer?

I did scan my computer after the patch was installed and
it found virus and deleted them. I just wanted to know
what this is and if it is a problem and wanted to also
know if I can delete the NTAUTHORITY\SYSTEMS completely
out of the computer.

If the virus is gone, then your good to go. Make sure you apply all the
security patches from windows update and/or SP2. You cannot get rid on the
ntauthority as its required by xp.
