NT4 Server in 2000 AD

I have a Windows NT4 server logging into a Windows 2000 AD. Users are
trying to map a drive to a file share on the NT4 server but are not able to
authenticate. Is there a problem with kerberos here? What do you suppose
I'm doing wrong?

Justin,

Just a quick thought: is WINS installed? I would normally answer that this
is a name resolution issue. I would check to make sure that DNS is properly
configured and all is working. Do they have any problems mapping network
drives to any shared folders that might be located on a WIN2000 Server?

I am a bit puzzled about the authentication issue that you mention. Are you
sure that the WINNT 4 Server is a member of the domain? or is it a member
of a Workgroup? Do the users attempting to map network drives to it have
permissions to access the folder? Remember, there are two sets of
permissions: the Share permissions and the NTFS permissions? I am sure that
you know this but I am just trying to make sure that this is indeed the
case.

HTH,

Cary

Thanks for your reply. The users have no issues mapping to the shares on
the Windows 2000 server. They pickup 3 different drives off that server.

Only the shares on the NT server are the problem. I have verified the
permissions, and everything is configured properly. I have verified that
the NT server is logging into the domain.
