I have a new laptop on which I have installed windows XP
home, norton, f-secure and a few other programmes but the
computer keeps crashing.
The error signature comes up as
SzAppName:schost.ext
SzAppVer: s1.2600.0
SzModName: unknown

when I click for more info -
H\Locals~1\Temp\WER12tmp.dir00 svchost.exe.mdmp
H\LOCALS~1\Temp\WER.tmp.dir00\appcompat.txt

I have partitioned my hard disk so that H is for all temp
files

When I hit ok the message comes up that it was initiated
by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM and that it must terminate because
the Remote Proceedure Call RPC service terminated
unexpectedly.

Any ideas? Please reply in words I can understand!! I
am a computer novice....

Sounds like you have the Blasterworm

I have downloaded the W32 blaster worm removal tool and
run it on the computer but it comes up with the
message "no worm virus found". What now?

Greetings --

If you connected the PC to the Internet without having first
installed the KB824146 Hotfix, without having first installed an
antivirus application with current virus definition files, and before
enabling a firewall, you're very likely to get infected from any of
the thousands of PCs on the Internet that are constantly broadcasting
the Blaster and/or Welchia worms. It only takes a few seconds of
exposure.

To stay on-line long enough to get the necessary updates, patches,
and removal tools, click Start > Run, and enter "shutdown -a" when the
next RPC countdown begins. This will abort the shut down. Also, make
sure you've enabled a firewall before starting, to preclude any more
intrusions while getting the updates/patches/tools.
