NS 2007 and Vista's Defender?

Hi Folks,

Was wondering if anyone is actually running both NIS 2007 (Vista Edition)
and Windows Defender together?

Originally when defender came out you could not run both together; but I
don't know if this was a temporary issue that is now corrected between
Symantec and Microsoft now or if they are both incompatible still with each
other?

Anyone running both? I was thinking about it but don't know if you can...

Thanks!

I have no experience with NIS on Vista, but for XP I strongly recommend
against using it. It is resource heavy and can cause problems sooner or
later. Unless Symantec made some major turn around, I would avoid the
Norton home products. Vista has a firewall, there are other good free and
paid AV programs, and free anti-malware programs that work well in
conjunction with Defender.

iNexxFear,

Just as you shared in your Post, the same remains true, specifically
regarding Vista and Defender.

Reference below:

with each other?"

I'm running the Public Beta of Norton 360 which is a sort os SysemWorks
on steroids <g> It seems to get on with Defender.

There is a VISTA version of NIS2007 that is available for download --
what you do is download the free trial version and after uninstalling
the XP version you install the free one and give it your XP version
KEY.

It automatically disables Defender.

Not sure that it does do this automatically in VISTA -- Defender says
it's running when I check in COntrol Panel. I thought VISTA had made it
almost impossible for outsiders to shut down security elements?

Also I realized recently that if you are running Vista or XP and you install
WOC 1.5, it has its own Spyware version in One Care, and it will disable
Defender and Vista has Defender in it as a default. All you do is ignore
this, although you can turn on Defender in Vista and run it but there is no
need if you have Win One Care. You can also make it disappear of course
from the notification area.
