the only time i get new mail notification is when the new email stays in my
inbox - if any of my emails are "Ruled" to another folder, i'm not notified
at all. anyone have any idea about this?

Add a notification action to any rule that moves items to another folder.

Yep, you can specify in your rule to also display the New Mail Desktop Alert
and play a sound when you receive an e-mail.

thanks both of you - that's a little "over-intricate", isn't it...? the prev.
versions allowed for a simple Notif. for email that comes in... seems there'd
be a way to be Notified of new mail across the board...

It's a decission based on user feedback. For the most of things that got
moved out of the Inbox (spam, newsleters) they didn't want a notification by
default.

not very efficient - most people i know use their folders for organizing a
few, or many, email groups - if i have to add "play a sound" to each folder,
i have to browse to Windows/Media fifteen times.

pain in the ass. i'm surprised at Bill (et al).

thanks.

No need, one rule will suffice. Make a rule with no condition and just the
sound or any other notification action and you should be fine.
