When a user prints to a (networked) printer on Windows XP SP2, they get a
little balloon popping up and telling them "The document was sent to the
printer" near the system tray. Some users find this annoying.

The only solution I could find with a search was actually disabling it on
the print server, but is there any way for individual clients to disable
these sorts of messages, either selectively or for all types of balloons?
