Notification area icons not hiding

B

Bill F.

I was wondering why my icons in the notification area
never hide, although I clicked the "Hide Iinactive icons"
button and in the cutomize all the icons say hide when
inactive. They never hide even though they are supposed
to when they are inactive. Can anyone help?

I did what you said, and still the only one that hides is
the one that I told to hide always :(

First, why do you want to hide the icons? Second, I never
use that function, but I'm fairly sure it doesn't hide
them immediately unless you choose to always hide them.
Otherwise it wouldn't say hide UNUSED icons. If your
problem is the system tray taking up too much space on
the taskbar try this instead: Right click on the task bar
and unlock it. Point to the top of the bar and left click
and drag it up so you have two or three rows. Relock it.
Right click on it and select properties. Check the boxes
that correspont to these entries: Auto-hide, Keep on top.

It can take the system some time (two or three days) to get the idea.
Personally I set them as either always or never, rather than leave it to
the system's judgment
