Notebook power adapter

Where can you purchase a "Universal" Notebook power adapter that will fit
several makes and models of Laptops and Notebooks?

I have a good working Gateway notebook power battery, adapter, cable but
need to connect to a Dell and IBM notebook.

I have found that because of the possible subtleties in power supplies - it
is better to look up and purchase the actual power brick/cable for your
laptop than get a generic.
 
Not recommended as they may not all take the same voltage. To attempt to
charge a battery or run a system with the wrong voltage can result in
permanent hardware damage.
