Notebook Cooling Fan

Ever since I installed XP on my Compaq presario notebook
(preinstalled with 98), the fan won't come on and it gets
hot. Any suggestions?

The fan is broken you probably need to replace it. Im sure its a coincidence
that it broke when you installed XP.

There may have been a device driver for the fan??? Other people have posted
in this newsgroup with a similar problem.

Contact Compaq about obtaining any necessary BIOS upgrades and/or
motherboard-embedded device drivers that the laptop may require for
full WinXP-compatibility.

You need to get the proper driver from Compaq. The fan control driver for 98
won't work in XP. Contact Compaq.
