Hi

Can someone explain why software often has "build" number as well as a
"version" e.g. 9.3.02

Thanks

Tim

Tim,

The version number indicates which major release (e.g, 97, 2000,
2002, 2003) the software is, and the build number indicates which
service release is in place (e.g., SR1, SR2, etc).

but sometimes the build number just seems to be an "unintelligible" serial
number e.g 35783?

thanks for feedback

Tim
