When I tried to open a PPS file, I received the
following error message "filename.pps is not a valid
Win32 application". I do not have PowerPoint, but I do
have PowerPoint Viewer 2003. What does this error
message mean and how do I fix it?
Thanks for any help

On your system it seems that PPS is not a registered file type. Open the
Viewer and then open the pps file by going to File > Open. That is the
quickest way.

Thank you Sonia, it worked. Is there a way to have PPS
file types recognized by my system? I am runnning
Windows XP with MS Office 2003, Small Business.

One way is to open Windows Explorer, go to Tools > Folder Options > File
Types and add PPS to the list and set PowerPoint Viewer as the program it
will open in. Click on Advanced and highlight Show and click "Set Default".
If you then click on Edit, you should see something like:
"C:\<path>\pptview.exe" /s "%1"
The /s tells it to open in Show mode.

Thanks again
