In the logins for IE (and Outlook, come to think of it) the system will not
"retain" the name or password or whatever. The Autocomplete doesn't
function either and yes, I have checked the advanced options of IE for that
one. Now this system was upgraded from XP Home to XP Pro and the upgrade
did not go smoothly. This is one of those HP systems with a recovery
partition and nothing is ever easy with them.
Anyway, for a class I'm taking I needed a virgin XP Pro drive to work with
so I threw another drive and that has gone well. In the few places where it
has prompted me to "remember" a password or the like, it has done so.
So short of whipping out that partition and starting over again, does anyone
have any suggestions? I'm guessing that something in the registry got
fouled so that it won't write the correct information to some key somewhere.
