Not recignizing my hard drives

Recently I formatted my Hard drive and reinstalled windows off my resource
CD. Everything seemed to have went well. But here is my problem.

I have two hard drives, one for my operating systems and one for my storage
of Pics and music.

When I start windows XP up and go to my computer only the hard drive with
windows show up. ( C ) unfortunately XP is not registering my other Hard
drive, the odd part of this is that under device manager there seems to be 2
hard drives listed but no information listed for either of them.

Right now I am running a duel boot configuration of XP and Ubuntu. Ubuntu is
seeing and using the other hard drive ( formatted in NTFS ) just fine.

Does anybody have any information to help me get back to playing music and
printing my pics?

Let me know what additional information I need to post to help out

Thank you for any information you can give me

start/run, type: diskmgmt.msc
It will probably report 'healthy' status for C:, and something else for the
lost drive.

Start your system in Recovery Console mode, and from that prompt try a:
CHKDSK D: /p /r

I went to Disk Management. And found it reporting a 250 Gig Hard drive is
Healthy and active. how ever there is no drive letter beside this.
"Start your system in Recovery Console mode, and from that prompt try a:
CHKDSK D: /p /r "

How do I start System recovery? can this be done from a resource CD? rather
than Microsoft CD?

When a prompt pops up Put in the entire line "CHKDSK D:/p /r* " exactly as
typed?

Thank you Mark for trying to help me. I do appreciate this very much
