Peter Bell

I have 2 PC's connected via Ethernet both were running Win2000 Pro and
everything was fine. I have just changed the OS on one to XP Pro
(5.01.2600). I let XP make all the connections. When I try to log onto the
Win2000 PC it asks for a user name & password, but I have never used a
password, on installation I just left it blank & the Win2000 doesn't have a
password either. The Win2000 Pc has no problem connecting and retrieving
files from the XP one and I can even share files between both PC's if I use
the Shared Docs Folder! I have discovered another small problem when I
"ipconfig" the XP the results just flash up and are gone, I can just see
the black shape of the window as it vanishes. Can anybody help?
Thanks Pete Bell.

In order to access the resources on the W2k machine there should
be a user account on it that is identical in user name, password
and group membership. Let's say you're logged on to the XP
machine with an account named Peter. There has to be a Peter
account on the 2k box as well. If the password is blank on both
machines, that's OK.

When running ipconfig go to Start -> Run and enter cmd.exe in the
Open box. Type ipconfig /all after the command prompt and hit
enter.
