Not printing the text inside textboxes

Hiya

I am running Office 97 on Windows 2000

I have created a Word document and have put some textboxes on it. The background colour of the txtboxes is light yellow, and the text within is arial size 10 and is black (automatic) colour

When I print though it printes everything perfect except it will not print any of the text that is inside the textboxes - it just leaves them blank. I have tested this on all types of printers - black and white and colour, and in every case it is perfect except for leaving the textboxes blank

Do you know what is wrong and how I might fix it

Thanks

Basil

On the Tools menu, click Options. In the Options dialog box, make sure
that "Drawing objects" is checked on the Print tab. Does that help?

Surely the root-cause of the problem is the printer driver. Try:

1. change the colour=automatic to "black"
2. printing to another printer.
3. check if updated printer driver available from printer manufacturer.
4. check if vendor of printer reports similar problems on their support
web site.
5. check Google for similar problems with this particular printer.

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Hiya

Thanks for your tips

Stefan - 'drawing' was already checked in the print tab
Rob - I tried what you suggested. I tried google before posting but couldn't find anything (maybe I am just crap with search words!)

Anyway, I did find something that worked. The textboxes were grouped with a picture - I forgot to tell you this (sorry). Ungrouping seemed to allow them to print properly. I would rather have it grouped though - do you know/understand anything about this

I'm not familiar with grouping with pictures in Word (I tend to use
other tools for drawing) ... what comes to mind is that maybe the stack
of images is such that something is on "top" and covering up what you
want to print?

Hope this is useful to you. Let us know.

Thanks for getting back Rob

The textboxes were at the top-most level of the group. But clearly textboxes are treated differently within a group since their text is the only thing that you can still modify without having to ungroup. I would assume this is what is also affecting the printing of the text

Oh well, for anyone who might ask in future, ungrouping will do the trick
