Not my day.

Previous post:

Just (clean) reinstalled XP. The computer no longer boots up with user
intervention. I must click on my user name (icon) now. This is not at the
windows logon asking for a password. I am the only user and want to always
load my profile. Must be a simple fix but can't find it.

Answer:
Either download the tweakUI powertoy (from MS site) and use that to
auto-logon, or else start, run, control userpasswords2, and do it that
way.

I used the control userpasswords2 option above, but I also changed myself
from an adminstrator to a user. Now some progs. are locked out. Can't go
back in to change myself because I don't have admin rights. When I try to
log in as the administrator, it prompts me for a password. What's the
password?

One of those days :)

Paul,

I am not allowed to edit the registry either. When I follow the directions
from the link, I get "Cannot create value: Error writing to the registry."

If I could log in as the administrator I believe I could change my log on
settings. Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Charlie

When I type control userpasswords2, the popup box (User Accounts) appears.
It says I must be a member of the Administrators group on this computer to
open User Accounts. You are logged on as (my name), and this account is not
a member of the Administrators group.

I am stuck everywhere I go. Always asking for the password for the
administrator.
