Computer crashed this week had to start all over by re-installing
WindowsXP,drivers, software, etc. Keep getting error messages such as:"There
is not enough disk space to install the update(s). Free additional space on
your hard disk and then try again. "
I free up space and it still won't let me continue, states I have to remove
programs, which I did.
System is a DELL 400SC, P4, 2.8GHZ, 40GB, 512MB
thanks for any help, this mis making me crazy!

How much free space on C?

What partition is Windows installed?
How much free space on that partition?

That is your problem.
Windows typically wants about 15% or more free.

You may need a larger hard drive.

I have this same problem. I was wondering if I could just extend my partition
since I have 2 partitions on this drive? Thanks

try deleting your temporary internet files. -- do a disk cleanup. see if
that gets you anywhere.
also, a good defrag wouldn't be a bad thing. do a chkdsk /f first though.

most people who reinstall windows reformat the hard drive (erasing
everything) first though. otherwise it
can cause problems with installing ontop of other files.

2% free on C drive
