Not compatible with MS DOS or Windows applications....

debbie

When trying to install a new program in XP I have been
getting the following error message:

16 bit Windows subsystem -
C:\Windows\System32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not
suitable for running MS DOS and Microsoft Windows
applications. Choose close to terminate the application.

This has happened a couple of times and most recently
with two programs that I have ran successfully on XP
previously and one program is a freeware application made
for XP.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be and how
I may fix it?

Thanks for any help.
