Sorry...I posted again in this catagory. I first posted under Office
General.

I have a Yahoo mail account. I use Office 2007. I have set the setting to
leave emails on my POP server in Yahoo when mail is downloaded to Outlook.
Because I have that setting I have noticed that not all my emails are not
downloading to my Outlook inbox. They are not in my junk mail either. There
are from friends that are in my address book. It does not happen all the
time. For example I might get an email downloaded from my friend Beth in my
inbox in Outlook and then later in the day it won't download and I notice it
on my Yahoo inbox. Any thoughts? Do I need to go back to Yahoo for help? I
cannot totally rely on Outlook. I have to check my Yahoo inbox b/c some
messages do not download. Thanks.

Outlook simply asks the Yahoo server how many messages are in its Inbox.
After it receives this information, Outlook asks the server to generate UID
(a message number) values for them. Outlook compares those UID values with
the UID values of the messages it has already downloaded and asks for those
messages whose UID values it hasn;t recordd yet. So, if Outlook isn't
downloading a message, then it look like it thinks it has downloaded it
already.

Were this to happen to me, I'd do one of two things. The first is that I'd
use the web mail interface to the server to move the old messages from the
Inbox on the server to some other folder on the server so that only new
messages appear in the Inbox on the server. Outlook won't even try to
download the old messages then.

If I didn't want to do that, I'd temporarily move the contents of the
Outlook Inbox to some other folder I created, close Outlook, use the Mail
applet in Control Panel to create a new mail profile (using the existing PST
with a now-empty Inbox), being sure to specify the option to meave the
messages on the server when I added the account to the new mail profile,
then start Outlook, which will cause it to download everything in the server
Inbox again, regenerating a complete list of UID values, which hopefully it
will remember this time. I'd then permanntly delete all the messages
(except for any new ones that arrived since I started) in the Outlook Inbox
and move the old list of messages back to the Inbox from the folder I had
created. The permanent deletion is so that the messages don't go through
the Deleted Items folder because if you have the option enabled to delete
the messages from the server when you empty Deleted Items, then they'd be
removed from the server and you say you want them to remain. Alternatively,
don't enable the option to delete the messages from the server when Deleted
Items is emptied and you won't have to use the permanent deletion trick.

I started having this problem last week also. I consolidate all my
email on Yahoo mail plus and use Outlook 2007 on Vista premium home
edition to download all email from yahoo. Since last week Outlook has
started to not download certain messages with no apparant pattern or
consistency. If you find a solution please let me know. I'll try
Brian's suggestions below, but I think there is more to the problem
than simply user error or configuration problem since I have been
using Yahoo successfully for 7 years and Outlook 2007 successfully for
120 days.

Did you try Brian's suggestion and did it work? I did not go through all the
steps. Honestly it was a little beyond my knowledge but I think I can give
it a try. I still have an issue where some emails download while other do
not. Like you there is no pattern or consistancy. Would love to have
Outlook as my main reliable email program but right now I still need to get
