Not able to get IP after get rid of spyware

I ran ad-aware and spybot to get rid of all those
spywares. The computer worked fine the same day but it
wasn't for the next morning. I am not able to get an IP
address. I tried to renew the IP under cmd and a error
message said not a valid socket or something..
Do you guys know what's going on?

There is a new netsh command in Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2) that can
reset the Winsock catalog. Try this command and see if this works for you.

Open the command prompt, then type of the following and press ENTER.

netsh winsock reset catalog

I haven't upgraded to SP2 yet becoz that might create
more problems. Is there anyway fix in SP1?
