Not a Valid Bookmark error

I tried compacting and repairing my database but lost my connection to the
network where the database is stored. Now when I try to open it, I get an
error saying "Not a valid bookmark."

What happened and how do I fix it so I can use my database again?

At times like this, nothing beats a good backup. In fact make a complete
backup of your database now and put it away for safe keeping.

That would be fantastic however as soon as i click on the database to open
it, I get this error. There is no way for me to Compact and Repair let alone
back up the database. I can't open anything in the database.

You can back up the database with Windows Explorer by just making a copy of
it to another folder or drive.

Try the Jetcomp utility to compact and repair the database. It does a better
job plus is an external program so you don't have to open the database first.
It's described in the links below.

If worse comes to worse, do you have a recent backup of the database? If
it's on a company network, possibly it was backed up this past weekend. If
nothing else, you might have to learn a tough lesson about backing up.
Backups are like seat belts: worthless until the moment that you need one. If
you don't have the belt on, it's too late then.
