I came onto this site a few days ago wanting help for my
fathers pc that has never been online.I gave out my email
adress thinking it might be faster for a responce.Im not
100% sure and it might not be the problem. But I was
emailed by a guy with a responce.I have Norton Internet
Security and Anti Virus 2004 that is up to date.I also
have been running Aluria Spyware eliminater paid version
for several months.I also got a download update from
Yahoo Messenger security update. After the update I was
unable to log back onto messenger, which I deleted in
ADD/Remove Programs.I ran a scan for virus and spyware
and none were found.I noticed that my Norton Int.Sec. was
disabled.I tried to enable and it said I needed
Supervisor permission. In faint letters it says
Administrator. When I go to the log on page to normally
look at my childrens accounts as Child/Teenager.It wont
let me see,the log on button is also faint and i cannot
access. It is usually opened with my account password.I am
running XP Home Edition. So I tried to delete it in
Add/Remove programs,still wanted supervion approval.I
tried to restore,didnt work,so I downloaded 2 spyware
removers that people on here recomended which found
spyware that my paid version did not.One program I think
spybot removed it.Then when I went to try my Norton it
would not let me access it at all but gave me a message
to delete Norton and reinstall it because my system had
been updated. So I deleted the 2 new spyware
removers, which also deleted whatever it found,Same
message. All the while I had been trying to find out
something from Nortons Web site which was pretty
useless.I also still could not delete Norton in
Add/Remove.I tried restore in Safe Mode I tried
configuring my Norton in Safe Mode and deleteing in
Add/Remove in Safe Mode.Norton would not work in Safe
mode as far as that option with log on.I tried to access
Norton through my childrens accounts the same crap.I
tried to restore again which i have done maybe 5 times in
the 3 years that I have had this.Until today I had no
problems.Several tries on different dates would not allow
it.So I went thru the problems that everyone else was
having and tried it in safe mode, then i finally got it to
restore by Turning Off the System Restore in the Safe
Mode which you have to reboot 3 times and it generates a
new restore point and allows you to restore to that day
but deletes all previous restore points. That worked
whoopie big deal,I still have problems with my Norton
Internet Security.I tried earlier to post on this site
and was unable to.It would not allow it.I would get a
blank page.I keep it defragged and the disc cleaned up on
a regular basis.I tried the disc repair there is
nothing.I think I may have to do a recovery disc and wipe
out everything. And probably end up paying Norton whenever
they open up to get there junk to work so I can delete it
and get a better grade. One guy talked about an erase from
the command prompt for all sys volume info dirs on all
drives deleteing contents and directories.I have NO CLUE
what the heck all that is.So I am real stumped.Sorry this
is so long,Iam pulling out my hair,I hope there is a
short fix.So I dont know if it was the email from the
guy,the security update from messenger or the junk I
download.Guess I will try the Start/Run DxDiag test.Im
guessing it wont help. Thanks for youre patience and
concern Michael
