Norton going off suddenly

For the last couple days I have noticed that occasionally the norton email
scanning box that pops up from the tray when you email something, will activate
by itself and scan something even though I have not actually sent anything.. it
just pops up by itself, scans SOMETHING and then goes back to the tray..

Anybody know if this is normal? I have winxp pro sp2, norton antivirus 2003,
choicemail one... can't think of anything else pertinent. Or is there a log
somewhere that will clear it up?

Open the Norton Anti-Virus interface, Click Reports, View Reports.
In the left-hand pane look for "Email Filtering". Click that category &
you should see the email log in the Right pane. (This is for 2004+, so
the actual steps may vary for the older version).

Do you have your email client open and is it set for a fixed time interval
to check for new mail when this scan box appears ?

Yep, exhaustively.. Spybot Search and Destroy, and Adaware 6

If the answers to the above questions are both yes, then you should be
receiving new messages each time; if this is not the case then there is a
real quirk or problem.
