Norton Ghost Question

My primary drive is 40GB and my Norton Ghost clone is also 40GB. I'd like
to get larger drives (say, 80GB) and use Norton Ghost to transfer my current
system (which has two partitions) to the larger drives. My question is:
what happens to the extra space on the new drives? Should the new drives be
formatted before they're cloned? Will another partition be automatically
created? Thanks.....

Read the Ghost manuals and/or ask Symantec/Norton.
(That should be the answer..)

The answer is that Ghost will expand the image to take up all the space if
you like. So if you have a 40GB partition and you image it and then apply
said image to a 500GB partition you created - it will take up the 500GB.

Ghost will give you an option to create a partition and contents exactly,
which gives you the option of partitioning afterwards using the Disk
Management utility included with XP..

OR.. you can elect to clone the operating system into one large partition
that encompasses all of the space of the drive..

Others have addressed the Ghost question, now I'd like to know why you
would only go to an 80Gb drive. At today's prices, you could go to at
least a 120Gb or larger. Right now, I have a 300Gb main drive a 120 and
40Gb internally, and a 120 Gb USB2 outboard drive... :>))

More on Tom's note:
Assuming your hardware can handle the larger drives without software
assistance (most modern (newer than 2 years old) hardware can..) -->

I am using a four year old laptop. After Vista has been out a while, I plan
to build a super fast tower and then will have some very large drives. For
now, I'll limp along with the minimum I have to spend.
