I would like to copy my system drive (including winxp)
over to a larger drive. Then I can boot from the larger
drive and remove my old system drive, but I'm running
into some issues.

I copied the system drive over to the larger drive using
Norton Ghost 9.0 (copied the MBR too). At this point,
the system drive is set at Primary Master, and the larger
drive is set at Primary Slave. After the drive copying
is finished I remove the old system drive and set the
larger drive as Primary Master. WindowsXP boots up fine
at this point. When I attempt to log in, the login box
says "Loading user settings" and then "Logging out" and
it logs me out. I can't login to windows, but I can boot
up the os. What aspect am I missing here?

Any help is much appreciated.

Brian,

you already got some good advice. In addition to that, it could
be a drive letter issue. Your new system could now be something
other than drive C:, and something could get upset here.

Have you tried booting into safe mode and checking the drive
letter? If no safe mode either, things become more difficult,
but there are still ways to repair the system.
