Norton Ghost 2003 vs 9.0

What happened between Norton Ghost 2003 and Norton Ghost 9.0?

Did Drive Image get merged with NG2003?

I've been playing with the new NG9 and it looks good, but not sure what the
consensus is. Any good?

Lastly, I can't find a way to create backups on CD with the ability to boot
from the backup set of CDs created. Also, there doesn't seem to be a utility
to boot from DOS on a disaster recovery, like NG2003.

Don't know about Ghost but Symantec just killed Drive Image when they bought
it from Powerquest. Drive Image 2002 is the last useable version since the
main functionality tied up with DOS function. Nobody wants the Windows only
version. Even Symantec gave away free Drive Image 7 at CompUSA, nobody wants
it. The question is if any previous DI users turn to Ghost, I doubt it.

Drive Image 7 didn't work for me until I installed .NET
Framework as a part of Visual Studio .NET. Then it worked
fine. (I run Windows XP Pro). I was advised by PowerQuest
to use DI 2002 if v.7 didn't work for me, but I could never
get the /IDE=ON switch to turn on DMA, so it ran really
slowly. Right now, I have no complaints about Drive Image 7,
but I don't do any automated backup procedures, so I can't
comment about that.

Norton Ghost 9.0 is advertised to NOW HAVE DRIVE IMAGE TECHNOLOGY. Also, it
allows Windows backups of drive images. I have done an image of one of my
secondary drives and it stayed completely within Windows, no DOS mode. I
have not tried that on my Windows XP drive.
