norton error

trying to install norton system works 2005
but received this message error 1722 windows installer package
can any one help me rectify this?.
a solution would be appreciated but keep it simple
not very good with computers

Error 1722: "There is a problem with this Windows Installer package . . . "
or
Windows Installer error
Go to Start/Run and type: regsvr32 msi.dll
then
Go to Start/Run and type
SFC /SCANNOW
Make sure you have your WinXP CD in the CD Drive before executing the SFC command.
or
if you need to reinstall the Windows installer
The three files are which can be expanded using msconfig:
msi.dll, msiexe.exe and msihnd.dll
