when scanning across the network the event log indicates that certain
folders/files cannot be accessed as follows

Event Source: Symantec Antivirus
Event Category: None
Event ID: 6
Date: 10/9/2005
Time: 04:12
User: N/A
Computer: XXXXXXXX
Description:

Scan could not open file W:\WINDOWS\inf\netrasa.inf [00000003]

i would assume that this is a security problem

any help would be appreciated

It's not a security issue, it's a driver issue :

previously listed drivers. All other storage, network, and anti-virus
drivers must pass the Signed Driver Check test. "

Apparently, it's a NAV driver issue.
