Norton Anti-Virus 2003 Problem

Phil

When I run my Norton Anti-Virus/Internet Security it
usually scans around 120,000 files and finishes. The last
few times I have scanned it has been over 500,000 files
and it does not stop. The last scan went on for almost 3
hours!!! I'm not kidding! I'm no computer whiz and not
only am I confused as to what is happening but also
concerned that there may be some damage being done to my
computer. I'm using Windows XP. ANY ideas what to do
would be greatly appreciated!!!

Did you install something big? Like an Encyclopedia or Game?

Delete your Internet cache files and temp/tmp files before you scan.
Internet cache files can be in the multi thousands and dont need to be
scanned, delete them first

Done that too. Always do that each time before I log off.
Cookies, Temps., History
