Non spyware apps being flagged

Our company uses a digitial update system to insure that
our customers have the latest driver for our products on
the system. This is something the customer does via a
button on a control panel application (it's not done
automatically)

However now customers are complaining that we're
installing spyware on their machines!!!! We're not, we're
simply running a software application that updates the
driver.

Is there going to be a program offered that allows us to
have a WHQL like signature so that we're not flagged as
installing spyware?

Gees.. this thing couldn't find GATOR corp yet it won't
allow us to update drivers...

It finds Gator just fine for me.

Andre has posted the false postive report--that's appropriate if your
product or a part of it is being identified as a specific piece of spyware
which is incorrect.

If you want your app listed a known--i.e. the nice big prompts with the
green checkmarks, use this link instead:

http://www.spynet.com/vendors.aspx

This is the "vendor dispute" link, which is mainly for folks whose app is
listed by the program, and who feel that listing is incorrect.

However, at the moment anyway, this is also the link to initiate contact to
get your application listed as "known."

Thanks.

I'll have our legal department contact them.

As for gator, On a testing machine I specifically went to
their site and installed a bunch of GAIN applets.. none of
them were detected. Spybot found them right away and got
rid of them.

Thanks for the details--I'll try that myself. It's possible that the stuff
directly off their site has sufficient disclosure and removability that it
is not considered for removal by Microsoft Antispyware.

Here's the KB doc that gives the criteria:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892340 Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (Beta)
identifies a program as a spyware threat (Listing criteria and Dispute
process)

I believe items of GAIN that came along with a bearshare install I did were
detected and removed.
