Non published pages

I am setting up a new site and I have some pages that are not ready to
publish. I have set them to "don't publish" but the page appears to remain in
the link bar. Is there a way to remove the 'non published' page from the bar
without removing it from the site?

That's what do not publish means. IT won't publish them to the server.
If you don't want them on your local web, delete them. Have you considered
removing them from the navigation view?

It sounds like you are using frontpage's built in navigation? At the bottom
of the page, next to "folders", "remote web site", "reports", the next option
is "navigation". Open that navigation view, and you should see the pages
that are listed on the link bar. Right click on the page in question, and
select "included in link bars". This will remove the page from the link bar.
When the page is ready, just do this again to add the page to the link bar.
