Non breaking space Word 2007

Can anyone tell me why a non breaking space command (control, shift,
spacebar) does not work in Word 2007? When I turn the show/hide command on,
I can see the symbol showing that I have used the command, but words are
still split on two different lines e.g. 17th January 2008; the 2008 still
remains on it's own.

Hi Heather,

Using Word 2007, the non breaking space works for me as it should - including with 17th January 2008. Are you sure you haven't left
a normal space in there as well?

Many thanks. That's exactly what the problem was - I had included a normal
space as well.

I find that Word's IntelliSense often trips one up in this sort of case.
Even if you select the normal space before inserting the nonbreak one, Word
sometimes "helpfully" adds a space.
