non breaking hypens in auto correct

How can you do an auto correct with a word such as non-breaking using a non
breaking hypen so that if you named it nb it would come up with a non
breaking hypen in it. It works for non breaking spaces but not for this.

You have to select the "Formatted text" option when you create the
AutoCorrect entry.

I'm trying to do this by the two options, plain text and formatted text, are
disabled for some reason so I can't change them.

Oops... just figured it out. I have to first select something in my document
(supposedly the word or words that I want to appear in the "with" field) .
When I do that the two options become enabled and I can choose formatted text.
