When i try to run an old program on windows XP that works on Win 98 it'll
come up with an error that "it is not a valid 32 bit application"

My question is if there is a way that you can magically turn it into a 32
bitter? or not

thks
(my second post today)

It's possible that the program file has become corrupt and, as a result,
really isn't a valid Win32 application. Does the exact same file work on
98, but not on XP?
Try reinstalling the application to see if that helps.

yeah, doesn't do anythin

On the Microsoft website there is the Application Compatibility Toolkit.
Supposedly this can help you take forcing old applications to run under
XP to a whole new level. But it doesn't look trivial to start using it.

If someone stumbles across some good advice about getting this to work
I' certainly be interested, I've been trying to get the Oxford English
Dictionary version 1.xx to run under XP. It is a Win3/Win95 vintage
program that ran fine under 98 and I think under XP prior to SP2.
Now it will run immediately after install but fails after any reboot.

Thanks

And if all the good advice you've gotten doesn't solve the issue,
consider buying Virtual PC 2004. You can create virtual machines
running any X86 operating system. Then you can install the older MS
os's and run your dictionary program in its native state.
