IMON=Internet monitor at the winsock level. This scans incoming http
and pop3 traffic for malicious code. The other part of IMON is the
internet filter. This detects automatic network worms like Slammer for
example.
A personal firewall is like a traffic cop. Inspecting incoming and
outgoinging traffic (data). It blocks the bad and permits the good
from entering and leaving your pc.
Some say if you are behind a router with a firewall you probably wont
have or need a personal firewall but this is neither here nor there.
