No-Width Optional Break

I have a sentence that I would like to break so that a word using slashes
does not wrap completely to the next line. I have inserted No-width optional
breaks after each slash but the word continues to wrap entirely onto the next
line. Is there anything else I need to do? Thanks.

Words will always move to the next line if there is no room for them on the
current line. It is not clear from your description what exactly you want to
achieve. It might help if you included the word in question.

I don't know what an optional break is, but using a no-width space instead
might work out better.
