No System Restore

I recently upgraded to a 120GB Maxtor hard drive and transfered all my files etc. from the existing hard drive in my machine using the accompanying set up disk. Now I can't use the system restore option. In the System porperties file I get the error message:...An exception occurred while trying to run "shell 32.dll, Control_RunDLL "C:\windows\System 32\sysdm.cpl,"System"....when trying to run System Restore from Run, All Programs window I get an error message of System Restore has to shut down........

Hi,

Sounds like the service has a corruption. This page may

Whilst it is for a different error the sfc /scannow and
the re-install tips are valid for you.
