No Support for Audio Codec/No Volume Control/"Missing .INF" file

Anybody know how to get "MMDRIVER" component installed? I have an audio codec (Realtek ALC655) for which there is no "native" support in the component list ... I cannot adjust volume; eXP tells me there is no driver for "MMDRIVER.INF

Bob,

Does your image configuration include "Audio Control Panel" component?
MMDRIVER.INF comes with this component.
Make sure you resolve the component's dependencies in TD.

I don't have email on the target and it doesn't appear you can send attachments with the web-based client, but here's some of the FBALog text that might be relevant

BS,

Yes, that is pretty clear you are missing components. Add all the components that are mentioned in your FBALog. You will need these
components:
"Primitive: ks.sys",
"Primitive: Drmk.sys",
"Microsoft Kernel Audio Splitter",
"Microsoft Kernel Acoustic Echo Canceller",
"Microsoft Kernel DRM Audio Descrambler"

Let us know if it fixes your problem.

Looks like I'm still missing a/some components.

Don't have Device Manager installed, will do a build with it added.

OK, I'll add those components ... is there any way other than trial-and-error to discover this stuff? Dependency checks don't catch it, and I've got all sorts of audio components intalled

On another not, I installed Device Manager but don't see any way to invoke it ... or is that what opens the dialog for "display" and "sounds, etc?" I don't see any way to specifically enable Device Manager in the User Interface setup

Bob,

I am not sure how you include the audio support in to the configuration. Was it picked up by the TAP result (PMQ) import? Then it
should be in your configuration (especially if you got the PMQ under XP Pro).
If you trying to componentizing a third party audio driver (what you seem to do), there is a good tip from Andy Allred [MS] for XPe
devs to avoid many issues: http://msdn.microsoft.com/embedded/community/tips/xp/compo/default.aspx

Yes, I ran TAP, but under Win2K. I'm beginning to suspect (most) of the problem is due to there not being any "native" support for Realtek sound chips in eXP.

I'll follow the lead, thanks

OK, I believe I've successfully componentized the audio codec and drivers in CD, and added them to the component database, but the component doesn't show up in TD (and I've set visibility to 100). Don't see anything in the FAQs ... what's the secret to getting something visible to TD that's been successfully imported into the DB?

K

KM

Bob,

When you created the component using CD, what have you specified in the "Group Memebership" field? What you add there will be the
category in TD where you see your component in.
