No success on sharing between two computers

I just installed a new router (Linksys SRW200) so I could connect to the
internet with my laptop and my desktop. My desktop is connected directly to
my router and I use wireless connection to connect to the internet with my
laptop. I have been trying for days to share files and printer with my
desktop via the router with no success. I have followed all the networking
wisards and made my files shared. I have used the netsetup disk for both
computers but when I open my Microsoft
windows Network for computers sharing my network I only get the computer
listed that I am on not the other. How do I set up and how do I get my two
computers to comunicate with each other. I have gone to the help menu and
tried everything there. I have listed the ip address for each computer on my
trusted zone for my firewall. I even turned off my Microsoft Firewall to get
them to connect but with no success. Is there anything out there that I can
try to make this happen....................
Both computers are using XP.

-- Make sure they are in same Workgroup
-- Disable/Uninstall third party firewall if present
-- Check for File and Printer Sharing protocol is installed (NIC card)
-- Ping other computer to see if it replies back
