I'm running Windows XP Pro, and I had just finished
running some Ad-Ware Software. I rebooted the machine and
logged in, but to my surprise I only saw the desktop
wallpaper and not a single icon or even the start menu. I
than rebooted and went in through safe mode and everything
came up fine. So I reversed the changes that the Ad-aware
software made, but still had the same results. So next, I
uninstalled and programs that could have contributed to
the problem, and still no luck. So I than ran the disk
recovery, hoping it would replace anything that might have
been corrupted or missing and still nothing. I need a fix
bad, all my schoolwork is on this system. The last time I
backed-up was over a month or so ago (I know My Bad), and
I can't afford to lose it if it can be avoided. Has any
one run into this problem. If so please help me!!!!

Sincerely,

Join the club-there are some messges earlier today relating to this very
problem which I had . You should still be able to get access to your
Internet connection ,e-mail etc if u r not at present using the PC that
has the problem . .Do Ctrl/Alt/Shift . When Task Manager appears go
File/New Task and navigate to where you want to go .
I fixed the problem by going to Task Manager as above and highlighting
explorer.exe and clicking end process but I would suggest waiting for
fuller advice fom others more knowledgeable.
