No standby or hibernation

I can not get my computer to go into standby or to
hibernate, when I come back into the room after I've been
gone for quite a while, I can hear the hard drive writing
to itself. I have Goback Deluxe on my computer and when I
access it I can see what files were written, every time
over and over its writing to the same files. Its
allways,

C\windows\system32\wbem\repository\FS\objects map new
c\windows\system32\wbem\repository\FS\index map new
c\windows\system32\wbem\repository\FS\roll forward

It seems to me that the reason it wont go into standby is
because its in a continual state of writing. Can someone
help me ?

This is what you get for installing something worse than System Restore on
your computer.
