no sound

Hi
When I start Guitar pro the opening jingle sounds.
I can hear streaming audio off the net.
I can play midi files.
But no sound from guitar pro or an ear training programe.
When I run a test it comes up with "/usr/bin/timidity".
Can anyone help?
