Hiya everyone,
Sorry to bother you on a Fri. night, but I can not seem to be able to boot
into safe mode.
I have tried 10 times to shut down and hold down F8 with no luck. Do any of
you know of
another way to boot in to the command prompt??? I am trying to format the c:
drive. I am running
a updated version of XP Pro.
Thanks in advance
Bob

You may be pressing F8 too soon. Try tapping it repeatedly, not
holding it down.

No, safe mode isn't what you want. Assuming you want to clean
reinstall WIndows XP, just boot from the XP CD and follow the
prompts

Two things - you can get to Safe mode by Start - Run and run
MSConfig.exe
In its BOOT.INI page, check /SAFEBOOT
and exit, to reboot to Safe Mode. You will need to run it again and
uncheck the box to return.

Second - you still will not be able to Format C:. You do it as part of
a reinstall of the system after booting the XP CD direct. Enter Setup,
and after the license agreement take New Install. When it asks you to
confirm where, hit ESC; select and delete the current partition and make
a new RAW one to be formatted at the next stage
