Thank you ever so much for NOT responding to my code 10
question. I guess Microsoft does not know what it's own
problems are or there are just soooooooo many problems
with Windows that they can't keep up. Have a good day.
Maybe somebody smarter has an answer for me else where.

Relax dude. No one in here works for microsoft, we're just people like you.
Also this is a newsgroup not email or instant messaging. You need to wait at
least 24 hours before you post again. Most likely, in that time frame
someone will answer you. If you get no answer in 24 hours then try again or
try another source. Answer or help in newsgroups is not instant, give it
some time.
But to try to help you............ I read your other post. You now need to
take your trouble shooting to the next step. Try another card, try another
slot, try your original card in another machine. This will tell you whether
your card is bad or not or if its a problem with windows itself. If a new
card works, then your old card is bad. If a new card doesn't work, try
different slots. If it works you know the slot is bad, if it doesn't try the
cards in another machine. If they work in another machine, then start
looking towards windows. Post back with results.

If it's someone smarter than you that you're looking for,
you won't have to search too far. Do you have a dog?

Well, I did get it all working. I expected a faster
response than what you mentioned below as I have posted
here before and had a response in a matter of 5 minutes.
If it takes any longer than that I am thinking that
nobody has a solution and my post just gets ignored from
then on.

As for what the problem was, there was some sort of
conflict with my Hercules Fortissimo II sound card and
the D-Link DFE-538TX nic card. If I got one working, the
other would not work. It went back and forth like this
for a few hours. After reading your post back to me I
tried a new approach. I pulled out all my expansion
cards and started one at a time installing them. I had a
PCI card giving 2 USB 1.1 ports and andother PCI card
giving 3 USB 2.2 and 3 IEEE1394 ports. I no longer have
these 2 cards installed and both my nic card and sound
card are working at the same time.

I am just wondering how long this fix will last. I might
turn on that computer next week and encounter a whole new
problem. Oh well, such is Windows. Thank you for your
help.

Please get this. This is not some part of Microsoft's formal support,
run by staff. It is a place to put questions, which then get answered
by people all around the world in their own time, out of desire to help.
You must therefore expect it to take 24 hours or more before your
question gets seen by everyone that might help. And an importunate
attitude that demands help is going to turn them right off.
