No Printer Icon in Network Neighborhood

I have a WinXP networked to a Win 98se on a simple home ethernet. Both
computers are able to connect to the internet. I can share files between the
two computers, but I cannot share the printers connected to theWinXP machine.
I have enabled file and and printer sharing for microsoft networks in the
Local Area Connection Properties on both machines, and I have also enabled
sharing in the individual printers properties on the Win XP machine.
But no printer icons appear along with the shared file icons in Network
Neighborhood of the Win 98se machine. Consequently I have no way to add the
networked computers to the Win98se

Yipee hurray!! I am dancing around the room. I solved the mystery. It appears
that the share name of each printer must meet certain parameters. I'm not
sure exactly what they are, but by removing spaces in the printer share names
and making the names shorter, my network printers miraculously appeared in
Network Neighborhood.

You got it - Win9x can't read/handle long share names. I think the limit is
13 - but I'm rusty on that one.
